Can I legally work in the UAE on a family visa? +
Yes. Spouses on a family-sponsorship visa can work in the UAE if properly documented — either via an employer work permit or a personal freelance permit. TandemXPAT handles the freelance-permit route as part of onboarding, so you don't need to navigate it alone.
How is TandemXPAT different from LinkedIn or Bayt? +
LinkedIn and Bayt are job boards — your profile sits in a database alongside millions of others, with no curation. TandemXPAT is a curated marketplace: every candidate is personally vetted, and we make introductions to employers rather than asking you to apply to listings. We also handle contracts and payments end-to-end.
What does TandemXPAT charge? +
For talent: joining and getting matched is free. We take a 15–20% margin on the hours billed to your client — you see your net rate before agreeing to any engagement. For employers: a small monthly subscription unlocks unlimited posting and shortlist access; placement-based pricing is available for one-off roles.
What kinds of roles are typically available? +
Senior part-time and project-based roles in marketing, design, content, finance/bookkeeping, HR/people ops, education, and operations. Most engagements are 10–30 hours per week, lasting 3–12 months. We don't list full-time roles or junior contract work.
Do I need to set up my own freelance company? +
No. TandemXPAT operates as Employer of Record, which means we contract with the client and pay you. You don't need to register a free-zone company, file your own VAT, or chase invoices. Our compliance covers it.
I've been out of the workforce for years — am I still a fit? +
Yes. Our most-placed candidates returned after 1–5 years out. The vetting process helps you reposition your experience and updates your portfolio to reflect what employers are looking for now. Career gaps are not disqualifying.
